Emily Kalinowski '19 Recruiting Profile

Hello to anyone that is interested to recruit me for your team! My name is Emily Kalinowski and I'm a setter. Growing up, I tried a variety of sports, but volleyball has always been my absolute favorite. A very great coach once told me to always remember these roots, and it is something that I never forget. I try to keep this in mind when on the court because after all, volleyball is fun! Athletically, I consider myself a very aggressive player.  I get my hands on a majority of plays and only underhand pass when necessary.  On both my high school team and club team, I run 5-1 , which indicates leadership skills.  I enjoy pacing my teams with high temp sets and helping players out mentally when they need it.  In addition, I push myself to run smart plays, such as watching the blockers on the other side of the court to give the best possible setting option for my hitters. Besides setting, I have a consistent jump serve that typically scores runs for my teams.  Furthermore, I play strong defense; I don't let any other setter try to score on a tip! At Michigan Elite, our motto is "Work hard or stay home", and I believe in this quote 100%.  I work hard every time I'm on the court and I'm constantly working to improve my vertical.  I'm also very coachable and always looking for ways to improve.  I'm a competitor: I play like I want to win throughout the whole game.  

In college, I'm looking for a team that values my assets to the team, and a hard working group of girls. I want the best college experience possible, spending time with genuine people which will most likely be with my teammates.  But most importantly, I want a quality education in my preferred field of study.  Just like on the court, I work hard in the classroom.  I'm working for my dream of playing college volleyball to become a reality everyday!
