Janelle Martinez '25 Recruiting Profile

 Hello, my name is Janelle Martinez. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to play volleyball at the collegiate level. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am always watching collegiate volleyball. I watch it because it is amazingly entertaining and I believe it helps me get better at my game. One thing about me, I am always thinking of ways I can get better at the sport I love so much. It is so exciting to watch the scrappy plays that they make and how hard they fight to get that one point. When I watch college volleyball I imagine myself on the court, working hard and having the time of my life. Throughout my high-school career I have been training and working hard to try to be recognized by a college who would take a chance on me and add me to their team. I am the type of player/teammate that is always loud and encouraging. I try my best to make sure that my teammates know that volleyball is a game of mistakes and to leave what already happened in the past, the only thing you should worry about is how to make the next play better. Not only do I remind my teammates of this, but I tell myself this constantly when I am on the court. There are times where I am not the best on the court, but what I lack in skill, I make up for in hustle. I will never give up, especially on myself. Additionally, I am not just a good athlete, I am also a good student. I have been in honors classes my whole high-school career and  my junior and senior year I will have taken 5 AP's total. I do not just hustle in the gym, I also hustle in the classroom. Whatever I am working at, I try my best to always be improving. I believe I will be a good addition to any team. Thank you.
