Lola DeGroot '21 Recruiting Profile

Ever since I was a little girl, my dream has been to play sports in college.  I now realize that my dream is close to reality. 

As a four sport athlete, I have earned varsity letters in Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field, and Soccer.   I have received recognition in athletics to include 2020 Volleyball Team MVP, Basketball Team MVP (2020, 2019, 2018), two All-District awards, "All-Tournament" teams, honored as Clovis Christian Eagle Student of the Year, and named the "Max Preps New Mexico Volleyball Player of the Week" with 56 kills, 28 digs, 13 aces, and 30 blocks during the week of September 2-8, 2019. In 2019, as a sophomore, I won two New Mexico State Championships and set the New Mexico State Record in the High Jump and Triple Jump. I believe my greatest accomplishment has been being selected by my coaches and teammates as Team Captain in both volleyball and basketball for two years in a row (2019, 2020).    

I recognize that without academics, we don't play the games we love.  My education and grades are a priority for me.  After college, I hope to work in the field of sports medicine.  I am a member of the National Honor Society, Honor Roll, and I currently rank 3rd in my class with a 4.0 GPA.   In 2020, I also received the "Distinguished Christian High School Student Award" for achievements in academics, leadership and athletics.  

I know this is just the beginning and, as I continue to dedicate myself in and out of the classroom, I will soon accomplish my childhood dream - bringing credit to my family, my current and former teammates, and the university that is willing to give me an opportunity of a lifetime.
