My name is Sara Welch, and I am Setter representing the class of 2023. I stepped on the volleyball court for the first time in the 4th grade and instantly knew this was the place for me! It's my goal to play competitive college volleyball while obtaining my degree in Biology/Pre-Med. I realize getting to this level of play takes a lot of hard work and determination, which I carry with me in my everyday life!
I'm a versatile player, but I mainly play in the setter position for both club and high school. I made JV volleyball as a Freshman and played all around Setter for most of the year, however, when they needed me I played Right Side Hitter. For my club team I play Setter, occasionally playing all around Setter. I am a very energetic and passionate player and always believe in supporting my teammates while leading by example.
During my free time off the court I am constantly wishing I am back on the court. In school I am in all Honors/AP classes and am very involved in my high school’s medical program. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and am fighting to get it higher. I am an absolute goofball, as my parents say, and enjoy putting smiles on peoples faces. My mother being a college athlete herself, and father have engraved the importance of a good work ethic, accountability, and determination within my life, as well as on the court. I’m very competitive and enjoy winning, however, when a loss comes along I look at it as a learning opportunity and a way to improve my skills even further.
