My name is Audrey Ajakaye, and I am a Outside/DS for the class of 2022. I have played volleyball for 6 years, and every year, my love for the sport grows stronger. I have a younger sister who also plays volleyball at the club level, we continue to challenge and motivate each other to achieve great strides in volleyball.
Every time that I step into the gym, I strive to improve my individual skills and also look for ways that I can help my team succeed, whether filling in where I see gaps or just being there for my teammates emotionally during practices and tournaments. I am a well-rounded volleyball player, able to play any position on the front row and back row if needed. Although I stand at 5ft 8” in height, my approach jump is 9 ft 10" and block jump is 9ft 6”.
As a freshman on my high school varsity volleyball team playing in Outside Hitter/DS position, I won All Tournament Team award. My club volleyball team ranked third in AAU and Houston Power League during the current 2018/19 season. I am excited about the season and looking forward to finishing this season really strong.
I believe that my core strengths are my athleticism, grit, positivity and open mindedness. I am highly coachable, using every opportunity of face time with my coaches to improve my game. These qualities have been very helpful for me as I worked my way up from a lower club team when I started club to one of the top teams for the top volleyball club in Houston!
I am an all Honors student with a 3.93/4.0 GPA, heading into my Sophomore year at The Village School, Houston TX. I love to compete and also want to be academically challenged. My ultimate goal is to find a college that is highly selective academically and athletically that will allow me to play at the college level while I work on my pre-med degree.
I have a lot of fun playing volleyball, the feeling of winning a game is unparalleled, the determination to win again after a lost match equally strong; I continue to love the sport and and have made lifelong friends through volleyball.
