Kalina Janevski '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coaches and Recruiters, 

My name is Kalina Janevski. I am a sophomore at Alexandria City High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

Before finding volleyball at age 9, I knew I wanted to be an athlete but could not find a sport that stuck. I tried everything from soccer to swimming. I was even a ballerina for a few years. During my first game of volleyball, I knew this was my sport. I loved serving, defense, and the team elements. My coaches recognized my talent, and I was accepted to my first club team in the next season. 

Fast forward seven years, and I had the opportunity to play for my school’s varsity team. We worked hard together and went on to win the Virginia Class Six State Championship. In addition, I am playing a level-up for the Braddock Road Volleyball Club U17 National team and the Alexandria City Titans Beach Volleyball Club team. I play every chance I get, and while my current positions are right-side hitter and middle-blocker, I make great kills and defensive plays and am a strong server.

I stand out the most because I am a strong, inclusive leader on and off the court. I prioritize making friends with everyone on the team. I am also praised for my ability to remain calm in tough competition and my positive attitude, which helps support my team. I am also a beast off the court and in the classroom. I maintain a 4.7 GPA and am involved in many extracurricular activities. 

When not playing volleyball, I row on my high school crew team, volunteer for my local library and city activities in my community, and participate in the National Math, Science, and English Honors Societies.  I am a proactive member of NSHHS and Key Club. I am an eleven-year Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capital member and have been awarded the Bronze and Silver awards. I am currently working on my Gold Award project. I have been on the Principal’s Honor Roll since middle school. I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Macedonian and teach myself Hawaiian. 

I am driven to play volleyball and would love to play at the collegiate level at an academically competitive school. While my plans for my major are still undecided, I am interested in bioscience, health studies, and neuroscience. 

I am excited to learn about different programs in my recruitment process.
