My name is Morgan Biggs and I am a student-athlete at James Wood High School in Winchester, VA. I am a hard-working and dedicated student in the classroom and use those same skills on the court. For my junior year, I have enrolled in 3 AP classes and was one of only 30 sophomores to enroll in the only AP class offered during that year. Also, having recently been inducted as an officer in our Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) club, I look forward to helping lead my club and working within the community by doing charity events which benefit our local hospital.
I'm hoping that all my hard work in the classroom and on the court will propel me toward my final goal of getting a great secondary education while playing a sport I love. My parents have instilled in me the importance of a good education that will allow me to have an even better future. Last year, I was fortunate enough to work with one of our local university's professors on a science project in pharmacogenomics that inspired me to get my biology degree so that I may be able to work in the biomedical field on research that may improve and save lives.
I started my volleyball career in 7th grade, playing both basketball and volleyball thru my freshman year. My JV high school coach encouraged me to start playing travel volleyball and I was selected to play for the 16U Open team as a middle blocker at Blue Ridge Volleyball Association. During my sophomore year, I played at the Varsity level as a six rotation right side hitter and again played middle blocker for Blue Ridge Volleyball Association's 17U Open team where I had the chance to compete at AAU Nationals in Orlando, Florida. I had the opportunity to play all three front row positions throughout my high school season this year and have accepted a position as middle blocker for Dulles Volleyball for my 2016-17 club season.
In my spare time, I like to hang out with friends and my younger sister and swim, bike or bump the ball around. I especially love to travel, hike and kayak with my family. I appreciate your taking time to get to know a little about me and hope to speak with you soon!
