I feel I improved the most as a student-athlete my sophomore year when I competed on the U18-Black Sweets volleyball team. That experience greatly helped me improve as an athlete and brought me to re-focus my efforts on becoming a solid libero and defensive specialist. This team was particularly unique from my other teams with this club because of the significance of teamwork and effort that always encouraged in every game and it pushed me to become more focused on effort as well as consistency.
From the beginning of playing competitive club volleyball, I have learned the value of mental toughness and strategy, and that they are equally important as the physical factors of the game. I not only have the capability to compete for a college team but the integrity, work ethic, commitment, and adaptability. Both on and off the court I am known for my optimism and enthusiasm. I am very supportive of others and like to help in any way I can. Along with that, I’m a motivated and hardworking individual who will consistency give 100%. I believe these characteristics are crucial in being a great volleyball player. During a game, it is critical to always stay positive and never get down on yourself and or the team. Whenever the team is down, I feel obligated to use words of encouragement. I personally focus on having optimism when mistakes are made on the court whether I make the mistake, or my teammate does.
In school, I am sharp minded and always looking for a challenge. I believe I am a good fit for the DS/Libero position because I enjoy the challenges that come with it. I am fascinated by the aspect of the quick decision making combined with physical work and that is what makes this position unique. Additionally, I am involved in track and field. I am no stranger to running and endurance, therefore, I am a highly competent back row player.
