As a libero, I was the defensive & serve receive leader. It is my job to analyze how the game is going and to communicate with my teammates about how I am reading it and listen to them as well. This helps us synchronize and play as a team. I strive to be the best I can be. Which means I put in longer, harder hours to make sure I am continually improving my skills.
I am known for some of the following characteristics:
Being coachable. Many of my coaches have told me how they appreciate that I am coachable and how I listen to them and use what they are telling me to do to become better.
I am full of energy while on the court. I know that energy on the court is contagious, so I always try to keep it positive and upbeat. Whether we won a long rally or I’m supporting my teammates, you will see me jumping with excitement to the middle of the court. I never give up on my teammates and am there with positive words of encouragement to pick them up if they get down.
My coaches have recognized how good I am at reading the ball before it is over the net. I am able to use this to my advantage to get myself into good position for the play. This is a skill that I am constantly working on, and it has helped me become more scrappy and quick.
On and off the court, I take pride in how positive and supportive I am. You will find me looking for ways to support others and myself by having a positive outlook on life.
My sophomore year was the first year playing a libero. It was new to me, so I put extra hours in the gym so I wouldn't let myself or my team down. That year I led the state of Wyoming in digs per set and overall digs. My second year, I led in digs per set and placed 3rd for overall digs. Both of those years I was awarded the All-Conference award. Our 2019 team was the State Runner-Up. Being at state and playing with my teammates on the blue floor is something I will always remember. I have also played 7 years of AAU club ball. My teams have placed 1st in multiple tournaments that we have played in.
My senior year was a season I will always cherish. For one, it was my last year to play in high school and for two, we didn't know if we would even have a season or if it would be cut short due to COVID. So I made sure to soak it all in and enjoy it every time I stepped foot on the court. It also reminded me to never take anything for granted - it has been a privilege to play the sport I love. Once the season was complete, I was awarded All-Conference along with two of my other team mates, All-State, and Co-Conference Player Of The Year with another athlete. I was also chosen to compete on Wyoming's All Star team that will take place July 2021. I am humbled by the recognition and I extremely grateful and appreciate everyone who has been a part of getting me to where I am today!
Staying close to home for college would be ideal, but I am open to other options. My interest states are Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska, or South Dakota. My desired major is Kinesiology.
Being a student athlete has always been an important part of my life. It has motivated me from a young age to work my hardest and strive to be the best athlete I can be. But above all, not to be afraid to be pushed hard to become a better athlete. Being a student athlete in a small town is pretty amazing. It is cool to see the kids that come to cheer us on and I strive to be a positive roll model for them. It’s important for me to show them that anything is possible when you are willing to work hard. I enjoy showing them good sportsmanship, a humble competitive attitude, and how fun the game can be. I hope it will give them the courage and drive to be a part of a team and family that I love being a part of.
I truly love volleyball and hope to be able to continue on to play in college and have that experience!
