2016 HighlightsThroughout my high school sports career, I have pushed hard to get better to be the best athlete I can possibly be. I have been improving my wrestling since the first day I started the sport my freshman year in high school. My first season, I started off knowing nothing about the sport. I ended that season by placing third in our sectional, and placing sixth overall at the European Championship. The reason my wrestling grew so quickly is because I am a very hard worker, I listen to coaches and other wrestlers to improve my game, I learn quickly, and I constantly strive to get better at whatever task is at hand.
Since my freshman year, my great worth ethic has pushed my wresting skills much farther. My technique has gotten much better, as well as my understanding of the sport. Last season, my junior year, I placed second at my sectional, and third at the European Championship. I was one of the team captains, and I helped many wrestlers with many different skill levels improve. I am very flexible with my wrestling and my placement in the team. Last season, my coaches needed a wrestler at the weight class above mine, so I gladly stood up to the challenge. At one of the meets that I wrestled up, I took second place, and I won two matches by overtime victory. My great conditioning and willpower make me a great athlete as I never give up, even when the odds are stacked against me.
I am also a cross country runner, and my mental toughness and will to compete translates to that sport as well. Since my freshman year of running, I have cut off three minutes off of my five kilometer time, and went from not even competing in the European championship my first year to placing ninth my junior year. Cross country is a very mental sport, and it takes large amounts of will power to succeed. My success both in cross country and wrestling show that I have the ability to succeed in a College athletic environment.
