Trace Evans '21 Recruiting Profile

I have been wrestling since I was 4 years old. I come from a small school with only 120 kids in the high school and sports have always been the highlight of my life. I haven’t had the prettiest home life, so sports, and especially wrestling have helped me to develop my character and morales, and given me something to be proud of. While most kids my age go out and drink and party, I stay home to support my family, and train to be a better athlete. Wrestling at the college level is a true dream of mine, and I believe that I am now ready to do whatever it takes to get there.

 I have yet to claim a state title of my own, coming in just behind with a 3rd place finish my sophomore year and 2nd my junior year; both years I have lost one match at state by only two points. I believe my main asset is that I strive for competition and I do not give up. I am extremely coachable, and have no ego, I only want to get better and learn in anyway that I can. I am not afraid of losing and I believe that learning is far more valuable than winning. I am looking for a program that puts precedent on learning rather than winning, so that I could be as great of wrestler and person as possible. As a three sport athlete, and natural leader, I believe I have what it takes to wrestler at the next level. And I am forever grateful for everything, wrestling, and the wrestling community has done for me.
