Men’s Division 1 Swimming Colleges

Student-athletes who dream of being recruited by Division 1 swimming colleges need to understand they are competing against the best swimmers in the country. Coaches at these schools are seeking the very top talent to help their team score points.

How many Division 1 swim teams are there? 

There are 143 men’s Division 1 swimming colleges across the country. Each team can offer up to a maximum of 30 scholarships if they are fully funded. Often, swimming scholarships are divided amongst several swimmers, making it rare for an athlete to receive a full-ride scholarship. Even though NCAA rules allow 30 scholarships per team starting in 2025, programs don’t always have the funding to do so.
