“Here I've included some basic information about Jackson College and our team! About Jackson College Please visit the JC website http://www.jccmi.edu/ for information about programs, certificates and housing. Compared to a traditional four-year college, a community college has several important advantages for students: an open admission policy, making it easier to enroll regardless of their prior academic record; lower tuition and fees; smaller class sizes; savings on room and board; and a more flexible curriculum and class schedule. If you are looking for a challenge we have honors courses which will also provide additional opportunity for a scholarship when you transfer to a 4-year institution. Fortunately we are one of the only community colleges in the state of Michigan to offer housing to student-athletes. Housing can be paid for using grants, scholarships or financial aid. Follow this link to see an interactive tour of our housing units. Also, as we are a division II community college we can offer athletic scholarships. The Jets and Coach Vandenburgh I am currently entering my 4th full season as head coach (5th year with the program) and have already been able to create a positive buzz about Jackson College. My two assisstant coaches combine for 57 years of coaching experience. My staff's mission has been to create a culture of competitive softball, strong academics and a dedication to our team motto One Team. One Family. One Goal. My coaching philosophy is to recruit and retain good students with exceptional character who are talented athletes. Last year we had 7 players earn conference honors including 5 All-Freshman team and 2 All-Region. We also earned team academic honors nationally. We are coming off of a strong season finishing 2nd in Regionals (one game away from nationals!) and earning the best record in program history! In the fall we play top competition at the NCAA DII, DIII and NAIA levels. This provides an opportunity for our players to be seen by other coaches in the event they wish to continue playing after 2 years at JC. I am dedicated to bringing in top athletes who want to compete and win championships. The coaching staff works hard to promote our athletes to various 4 year schools and many of our current freshman have already decided on a school to attend for their junior year. Check out our team Twitter to see more about the culture of our team! @JCJets_Softball. We participate in volunteer activities, team bonding and leadership challenges and have a great time while winning ball games!”
