2021 SpotlightBaseball is one of the most important things in my life. It is so much more than just a game to me. I dream about being on the field and devote many hours each day to make sure I stay on the field. I’ve spent the past 10 years developing my skills and trying to perfect the small things to get better at the game I love. My goal is to play college baseball and it’s why I devote so much of my time to the sport. Whether I’m on the field behind the plate, swinging in the cages or conditioning in the gym, I'm focused on the present moment and trying to get better and stronger.
A catcher should be a leader on the field. He is the only one that can see the entire field. When the ball is in play, the catcher is the one who needs to direct all of the traffic and make sure the ball gets to where it needs to. My team relies on me to make the right decisions. Being a leader is earned. I’ve shown my teammates through hard work and commitment to them that they can trust me. The leadership skills that baseball has taught me have helped me off of the field. I am a better person because of what I have learned from the sport.
I understand the sacrifices that playing baseball at the next level comes with and I’m prepared to make them. I would do anything to keep playing the game I love and I think it’s crazy that people can get money for playing the game as professionals. Some of my fondest memories come from the game, it’s given me so much. My parents have made countless sacrifices for me and I am very grateful that they see how much I want to play college ball. I want to make them proud and show them that everything they’ve given me was worth it by achieving my dream.
