July 2016Being the starting catcher on my high school varsity team as a freshman is where the process of baseball teaching me to be the man I am now began. I quickly learned that my position required relentless effort for an entire game, and as I played more and more games I began to see that the effort I put forth every game behind the plate was the effort I needed to put into my everyday life. This is one of the best things baseball has given to me which makes me grateful to my parents for letting me play as soon as I could so I could develop a great interest for it. Through baseball I have learned that I care about those around me more than myself. After many years of playing with the same guys I look back and ask myself why I put myself through so much. I came to the understanding that all the work I put in was for them because I wanted them to be successful. My academic goals have always been to maintain a 3.7 GPA or above, but going into my senior year I expect myself to have 4.0 GPA. My best skill on the field, and what I take pride in, is my ability to block the ball.
