August 2016I am one of the luckiest individuals I know, as I have been raised to believe in Faith, Family and Country. For as long as I can remember, God has always been a big part of my life and this has helped me lay a solid foundation for a strong moral character. My favorite conviction is to be the best that I can be. This applies to every area of my life from faith to family and from academics to athletics. Academically, my goal is to maintain at least a 3.3 GPA. While I do not know what area of study I will likely pursue, I plan on obtaining a bachelors degree with potentially attending graduate school to further my education.
My family is great! We support each other in good and difficult times. My parents have always supported me in baseball from my first day teaching me the fundamentals of the game when I was 4 years old, to present day. They make sure I have all the opportunities to be as successful as possible. My dad is a certified orthopedic physical therapist and has developed an arm care/injury prevention program building on the foundations of Jobe and Andrews and he trains/treats athletes at all levels. I work hard to stay healthy and to this day I have not had any injuries to my throwing arm. They have also made it possible to receive private lessons on pitching mechanics from Scott Glanz and hitting and fielding lessons with Randy Whisler. For the last 5 years my mom has been writing down all my pitching stats (strikes, balls, pitch count and the results) so I can see what I need to work on. My parents are the main reason that I am who I am today.
I’ve learned so much from the game of baseball… to have a fighting spirit, a hard work ethic, good support for all levels of teammates and humility. I’ve never been the hardest throwing pitcher, so I often did not always catch the eye of the coach or get the time on the bump that I wanted. This was tough; however, it didn’t discourage me, but rather pushed me to work harder to prove my ability and earn my way. I’ve had to learn to pitch with accuracy of ball location and the knowledge of what the batter likes, or doesn’t like to hit. I feel that I bring confidence and the ability to maintain composure in all game situations and a good attitude to the team.
As you can see, I am one of the luckiest guys I know to live in this great country, have a solid family and a strong faith giving me the confidence to strive towards my lifelong dream to pitch at the highest level I possibly can reach.
