I am a highly motivated and driven team player. I started my freshman year on varsity, but as the season progressed I entered the worst hitting slump of my life. This hitting slump stayed with me through my sophomore season. I went to all kinds of different coaches and batting instructors, and asked them to take a look at my swing to see what I was doing wrong. I was told a few different things, and I worked to correct these things. Even once I got these flaws corrected I still wasn't hitting how I wanted to in games. The summer after my sophomore season I completely changed my mental approach to the game. I went from being down on myself and disappointed to loving the game of baseball. I got out of my slump and started hitting the ball again just from changing my mental side of the game. This taught me more than just how important the mind is to baseball, this taught me how important the mind is to life. You can change so many of the outcomes in your life just by changing the way you think about certain tasks.
I am a multi sport athlete who has played both baseball and football at the varsity level. Baseball is my love and has taught me a lot, but football has also taught me some very valuable lessons. Football taught me to really work as a team player and the meaning of family. It also taught me to never give up no matter how hard things get, and it showed me the true meaning of team sacrifice. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe that my positive attitude, work ethic, passion for the game, and desire to be the best are all attributes that I can bring to your program and school.
