I started playing field hockey freshmen year of high school and fell in love with it ever since. Academics are just as important as athletics and always will be. Last year was my first year at a private school and of high school, I ran into challenges with harder work being provided. It was something I wasn't used to after 10 years of public school, but I didn't let that stop me. I would go visit my teachers after hours every week at the same time for the whole year to help ensure I was understanding the materials 100%. This in the end helped me not only improve my grades but build great relationships with my teachers. Now in my sophomore year, I'm prepared for what the school year will bring and know how to be a student-athlete. I've learned a lot while playing field hockey, things I use on and off the field. First, communication is key, it not only helps you but also the team as a whole, communication is truly a game changer. Field hockey has also taught me to manage my time. Having an 8:30-3 school day to then go right into 3:30-5:30 practice has really taught me how to manage homework, find time to study, and still have time for friends and family. Skills I've found while being on the field are I am fast and love to pressure when attackers are attempting to score. I'm always looking for ways to improve, so I plan on attending camps and clinics this summer and am excited to see what my sophomore year brings!
