William Gardner '25 Recruiting Profile

In order to win a basketball game your team has to have more points than the other team.  I always step on the court knowing to win we have to play as a team, and I am committed to that philosophy.  Everyone has a job to do, and while I have been the primary "shooter" on my team this past year, I am a versatile enough player to be able to make adjustments on the fly.  I can see the court when I am playing and often take a vocal leadership role in making the plays happen.  I don't need to be the star.  I will take the shot if I have it, but I will just as readily pass the ball if the play or opportunity to score lies with my teammate.  

Every day at practice or on my own I look for ways to improve my game.  It is fun practicing what you do best in a game, but I know improvement comes by recognizing your weaknesses and not making excuses for them.  I spent this past year focused on being a great defensive player, causing chaos for the other team, and getting that turnover.  I will not be out worked on any aspect of the game. 

To be truthful, I am a competitor through and through.  I thrive in pressure situations, and I am your go to guy when the game is on the line.  I am not afraid to take the shot.
