Personal Statement
I was an athletic and creative kid growing up. I played almost all sports from grades 1 to 6, but never swimming. I had joined a summer league team in the summer of 2015 where I quickly fell in love with the sport. I started swimming for my club league the winter following. Being a first year swimmer as a 6th grader, I was behind many kids who had been swimming for the majority of their lives. This challenge ignited my passion for swimming. I wanted to better myself, so I put in the time and effort.
I overcame many obstacles to be at the competition level I am at. My freshman year, I fell into a rut athletically and academically. I was unmotivated and unsatisfied with my results. I made a change for the better; I transferred schools. Through this hard time, I have become a leader on my club and high school team. While being a leader in the pool, I also strive to be a leader in the classroom. To better myself, I have made a goal to score above a 32 on the ACT and to drop the most amount of time I ever have in one event. I am sure my hard work, commitment, and determination this year will impress you.
