Hi, my name is Olivia Holmes I’m 16 years old and I am from Overland Park Kansas. As you may have noticed I have only played softball for one season in my high school career, but I did excel at the sport and the positions I played. Since never playing softball at a competitive level I had to start with the basics, which I picked up very quickly. I was a starter and I ramped up my hitting average as well as lowered my number of errors throughout the season as a third baseman. Mid-season my coach wanted me to try playing catcher as a starter. Obviously, the first game was a little rough but I did much better than expected and she made me starting catcher for the remainder of the season.
I am very proud of my accomplishment as an athlete in softball but also for my progress as a student. Freshman year was rough for me, math and science were my worst subjects and I struggled to keep those grades up. Sophomore year I did better and worked harder toward my goal, although I fell just short, I was still proud of myself for putting in the extra work. I decided that junior year was the year that I would continue my hard work and then some. So far I have succeeded with getting help when I need it to keep my grades at the high level I know I can get. I know I am capable at doing well in school as well as on the field with hard work and focus.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this and get to know me a little bit better,
Olivia
