Personal Statement
The combination of a highly academically competitive school, Girl Scouts along with other volunteer opportunities, and playing multiple sports has truly prepared me to play softball at a high level. I started playing softball when I was 5, my older sisters played it and I was encouraged to play too. Even though this wasn’t exactly softball, (it was more of a play time on the field than a real game) I fell in love with it. I played in my town softball league for 10 years and met some amazing friends and coaches who have helped me through my entire softball career. I saw quite a few amazing players who really influenced me to become a better player. Through this journey I had a few issues, especially while playing basketball and breaking a few fingers, but I always figured out a way to pitch even when I wasn’t allowed to catch a ball. This determination has carried over to my academic life as well. While going to a highly competitive school people are expected to be at the top of their game all the time. People are constantly competing for the top grade and the highest scores, and some of this involves people trying to get into others heads and emotions. I’ve wanted to become a doctor for a very long time and the amount of times that people have said they don’t believe me is too big to count. I’ve been able to take people’s doubt and use it as motivation for myself to continue my journey.
