Personal Statement
I envision myself finding a college program where I can grow not only as a student, but as an athlete as well. It is important to me to have a great relationship with my coaches, professors and teammates. Finding a school that will provide me the opportunity to embrace and take part in the community is another aspect I am seeking. There would be nothing better than finding my "home away from home" and gaining a second family!
For me, softball is a tool that gives me an outlet. It is my chance to continue to learn how to be a team player, face adversity, support my teammates, gain friendships, travel, experience different coaching styles, adapt and learn how to apply these various tactics to my everyday life. I believe being a part of something bigger than myself gives me a solid foundation to be the best person I can for my community and those around me.
As a Freshman, I told my coaches that being able to make the varsity team was an important part of my growth. I knew we had strong players in several positions and told them that I was willing to play wherever they needed me! My coaches approached me and asked if I would try catching...well, I guess you can say "the rest is history" as I am now in my 3rd year! I am so thankful I was able to embrace the challenge and cross it over into my club/travel game as well. The amount of catching knowledge I was able to gain from learning under the guidance of Teresa Wilson, Jen Ogee and Scott Ackerman was invaluable. I consider myself a strong vocal leader behind the plate with an arm to match, giving my team the best opportunities on the field! While catching is my primary position, I am also able to contribute to my teams as a 3rd baseman and outfielder.
The future is very exciting for me! I am continuing to work hard to provide proof of the well rounded student-athlete I am. Currently my ACT test is scheduled for Feb 27th, 2018 and my SAT is scheduled for March 10th, 2018. I will be sure to post my results as soon as I receive them!
