Personal Statement

As a three sport athlete at the high school level, I have learned a lot about myself through basketball, cross country, and track. Each sport has taught me many valuable lessons that have helped me not only on the field, trail, or court, but also in life. In cross country and track, I compete as a team but ultimately as an individual. In basketball, which is where my true passion is, I am part of a team working together to accomplish a common goal which is ultimately winning a state title. I depend on my team as they depend on me to be the best we can be. If one of us fail, we all fail. To succeed we must encompass each other's gifts and skills, and use them to the betterment of the team. Being apart of these sports has taught me to adapt to different situations and people, which is a very bauble tool for a college prospect.

I know the type of work ethic, dedication to your craft, and mental toughness it takes to complete at a high level. I contribute my success to having a strong faith in God, and by being blessed by a strong support system, including my family, coaches, teammates, and friends. I am a three year varsity player at Panhandle High School, which is a top tier 2A school in Texas in both academics and athletics. The Panhandle girls basketball program has continually advanced in the playoffs winning the state championship in 2017, and being repeat semifinalists. The last two years, I was able to help the team continue its winning tradition by earning a regional appearance and just barely missing out on making a state appearance in 2023. I am a strong ball-handler, reliable and elite three-point shooter, and have been praised by not only my coaches but coaches within the Point Guard Camps (PGC) as having a high basketball IQ. I work all year long on my craft by participating in team and individual workouts (strength and conditioning , running , and basketball), attending basketball camps throughout the state of Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma, attending the Fellowship of Christian Athlete Leadership Camp and competing with my AAU travel team. I am team captain and lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I have strived and will continue to strive to be one of the hardest working players and prospects you will find. Most people describe me as a  "gym rat".

Athletic achievements include: TGCA All-State Cross Country Selection 2021, State Qualifier in Cross Country in 2021/2022, Regional Qualifier in Basketball in 2022-2023, Regional Tournament Finalist 2023, Regional Qualifier Track 800m ('22), 1600m ('22-'23), 3200m ('22), Basketball Offensive MVP 3-2A, Press Pass Athlete of the Week scoring 35 points with 11 made 3-pointers, Press Pass End of the Year Honorable Mention Team, Academic All-District ('21-'23),TGCA All-State Basketball Selection, TABC All-Region Basketball Selection, Fellowship of Christian Athletes MVP Cross Country, Ette's Fighting Heart Award

My education has also been very important to me. I have worked hard to achieve balance between my academics and extracurricular activities in order to reach my goals. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA , been inducted into the National Honors Society, and received academic awards both my freshman and sophomore years for being in the top percentile off my class.

I want to attend a college where I can push myself and where my Christian faith can be integrated into my education and sport. My plan is to major in the healthcare field, and if given the opportunity with the right school to go into Pharmacology. I believe my rigorous high school load has helped prepare me for the challenge of balancing college academics while continuing to play the spot I love.
