2023 HighlightsI got into diving by starting as a swimmer at 5 years old. I trained 8 times a week as a Regional swimmer for Burnley Bobcats. At a competition at Sheffield (2015) there was a diving session for the Elite squad. I put in for lessons at 8 years old at my local diving club, and after 2 weeks, I got moved into the skills group. I progressed from there, however, 3 years later, the pool got shut down. The nearest club was Leeds ( 1 hour 30 minutes away). Starting as an Age Group Diver in a new club, I trained 4 times a week, as well as my swimming. I later had to decide to limit swimming sessions to 1 per week plus volunteer coaching of 10-12 year olds, this enabled me to focus more on my diving.
Now at 16 years old, I am in the Elite squad, with 7 training sessions a week. With these starting at 3.30pm, I have to finish school an hour early Every day. To make sure I don't fall behind (especially with GCSEs in a couple months) I have to catch up on work I have missed.
This has not seemed to effect my results, with the averages of 7,8 and 9s on my GCSE mocks ( A and A*s).
