Personal Statement

My name is Brooke Deebs.  I started school a year early to be in the same grade as my middle sister who is 11 months older than me.   I am one of the youngest student-athletes for the class of 2023.  I will not turn 16 until after my Junior year of high school has begun.  Since the beginning of my golf career I have been playing against athletes that are bigger, stronger, and older.  That is less prevalent now.  Although, that was the case,  my love for golf is undeniably stronger and I have never failed to work as hard as I can to get better.  My recent success in my scores and consistency prove this.  I have always had people give me a hard time about the amount of time I spend at the course and point out all the things they think I am missing out on.   For me I don’t think I am missing out on anything. The golf course is where I want to spend my time  competing against other people who desire the same things in life and golf as I do is what drives me to continue to get better and brings me a sense of happiness!  My goal is to play not only collegiate golf but also professional golf. Whether or not I make it to the Apex of golf or I just become a good collegiate player; I will never feel like I have missed out on anything!

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Texas Junior Golf Tour
  • 7/06/22 to 7/07/22
  • I tied my worst score in over 12 months. This came at probably the worst possible time. I hit it in some bad places and my short game that is usually pretty good was not there to bail me out. 44/38, 45/39.
  • Camp/Event
  • South East Texas PGA Junior PGA Championship Qualifier
  • 6/20/22 to 6/21/22
  • 77/79
  • Camp/Event
  • USGA Qualifier
  • 6/14/22 to 6/14/22
  • Played from 6351. 41-37=78
  • Camp/Event
  • TJGT Open Series
  • 5/21/22 to 5/22/22
  • I posted the lowest round of the tournament and personal best of 67 in route to a first place finish. I started day 2 with a 3 shot lead but fell behind before making birdie on the final three holes to force a 3 way tie. I made a 4th straight birdie on the first playoff hole for the victory. (67/ 74)
  • Camp/Event
  • Texas Region II 6A State Tournament
  • 4/20/22 to 4/21/22
  • 80/77 Despite hitting a personal best 15/18 greens day 2, I fell short of the ultimate goal of qualifying for the 6A state championship. After a rough start I played the final 11 holes 1 under and missed qualifying by two shots.
  • Camp/Event
  • 13-6A District Championship
  • 3/29/22 to 3/30/22
  • 76/79 Finished 5th and advanced to the Regional Championship as an individual. Very windy conditions and a two hour rain delay for round 2. Two days with no birdies, but pretty consistent driver and iron play until the final 3 holes of the 2nd round. I played those 3 holes +4 to finish with 79.
  • Camp/Event
  • Legends Junior Tour
  • 3/05/22 to 3/06/22
  • 79/81- Day 1 did not hit many greens but scrambled my way to stay in the 70's. Day 2 Hit 10 greens in regulation but had a bad day on the putting green and made several big numbers due to game management. I cant wait to get back on the course and redeem myself.
  • Camp/Event
  • St Johns High School Invitational
  • 2/21/22 to 2/22/22
  • BlueJack Played from 5600yards/Westwood Played from 6300yds. Tied for 5th in a very strong field. 81/78. Made 14 pars in round 2. No birdies and a couple of really tough lies in bunkers that lead to two doubles on the back nine. Otherwise played very steady on a long course.
  • Camp/Event
  • Southeast Texas PGA Winter Classic
  • 2/19/22 to 2/20/22
  • Made Par or Birdie on 25 of 36 holes. +4 on the first hole of round 1. +2 and +3 on #7and #8 in round 2. Those 3 holes ruined what should have been a pretty good weekend. Finished 79/80.
  • Camp/Event
  • High School District Preview
  • 2/05/22 to 2/06/22
  • 80/75 on Par 73 course. Less than stellar round of 80 on perfect day for scoring. 75 was posted under miserable cold and windy conditions. Temperature in the low 40's with 20+mph winds.
  • Camp/Event
  • Traditions Fall Invitational
  • 12/04/21 to 12/05/21
  • 85/77 Par 72, 5884yards, Slope 145, course rating 78.3. Driving accuracy is usually one of the strong points of my game. However, tee shots really put me out of position and I did not do myself any favors by playing aggressive instead of minimizing the damage. My driving accuracy really did not improve much on day two. However, just playing smarter reduced my overall score by 8 shots down to a 77.
  • Camp/Event
  • TJGT Elite
  • 11/27/21 to 11/28/21
  • 78/80 not ideal conditions but everybody had to play the same course. Many good players in the field shot several strokes higher than their average scores. Big take away is pace of putts. I hit too many fairways and greens in regulation to shoot in the upper 70's.
  • Camp/Event
  • Oak ridge Varsity Girls Fall Classic
  • 10/15/21 to 10/16/21
  • Par 71 5862 yards 1st Place Finish 71/73
  • Camp/Event
  • TJGT/Lonestar Girls Invitation
  • 9/18/21 to 9/19/21
  • 6006 yds Round 1.) 80 Round 2.) 74 I hit 14 green in regulation on day 2. Unfortunatley, I only converted one of those opportunities into a birdie but overall much better than round 1 where a 3 hole stretch in the middle of my round sent me from T-3 to almost last. Fought my way back to the middle of the pack.
