Personal Statement
"RJ, you should play lacrosse!" At first, this was just a crazy idea sparked by a friend late into my 7th-grade year. I had yet to pick up a stick; however, I was curious as to what lacrosse entailed. I began to obsessively watch Kenzie Kent, an incredible women's lacrosse player from Boston College. I closely examined her selflessness from behind the goal, feeding the ball to her teammates and occasionally bringing the ball to the goal herself. I found her characteristics so influential, that I finally picked up a stick for myself and gave it a try. Immediately, I realized that this is what I want to do. This is my "thing". Hours upon hours were spent on the rebounder as I attempted to get up to speed with the other girls. Soon enough, I did. I joined my first lacrosse team and continued learning the sport of lacrosse.
Mimicking my idol, Kenzie, my playing style consists of feeding the ball to my teammates to finish the goal. When I see the right moment, I capitalize on the play and bring the ball to net myself. I consider myself an unselfish player; I see the whole field and find the best pass or play to make next. My biggest goal is to always bring as much as I can to my team and put in the work to do so. I am proud for how far I have come with the sport of lacrosse and I dream to continue playing throughout my college career.
