My name is Emma Jarrell and my dedication in the classroom is directly related to my dedication on the soccer field. I work as hard in my sport to become better as I do in my academics to maintain an above 4.2 GPA. The hard work I put in the last two years to be a starter at my high school as a freshman and sophomore is the same hard work and determination I want to and will bring as a college athlete. It is important for me to find a college or university that values academics as much as athletics and I am excited to bring my work ethic to both of these aspects in my college career. My experiences as a soccer player have taught me how to face a challenge and overcome it not only on my own but cohesively with a whole team. Facing challenges headfirst on the soccer field also translates to my approach in academics. I excel in an environment on the field and in school where I am challenged and pushed to be my best.
My coaches rely upon me to have a vision of the entire field and to be able to turn with the ball and execute plays and passes. As an Attacking Center Mid, I focus on playing as a target player. I pride myself on being able to set my teammates up with goal scoring opportunities so that success is shared as a team, and not just individually. I constantly look to put myself into situations such as receiving crosses, corner kicks, or throw ins where I can use my ability to head the ball and score goals or set up a play. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact in your program. I am willing to go as far as I need to find somewhere that fits both my academic and athletic goals; I look forward to discovering the opportunities that await me at colleges and universities across the country.
