Personal Statement

My name is Kyla Davis and it is a goal of mine to compete at the college level in track and field. Before I took up pole vaulting, I was a level 7 gymnast. While in gymnastics, I practiced up to twenty hours a week which taught me discipline and perseverance. The skills I learned in gymnastics greatly helped when starting to pole vault. My current record is 12'-9" which is the current Oklahoma 6A Record and the 2nd highest jump in Oklahoma High School History. Since I began competitive sports at age six, I have competed in many large competitions in gymnastics and the Junior Olympics for pole vaulting and now back to back 6A State Meets. These competitions taught me to learn to handle pressure and to perform in front of large crowds. Academically, I have 4.0 total gpa. I am a hard worker and can guarantee that I will give 100% in both academics and athletics.
