I was introduced to the pole vault through a small track program in middle school on the Oregon coast. Ever since I have fallen in love with the sport and have strived to be a student of my event. Each year of high school I have worked hard to obtain the girl's record for each grade level. My personal record is currently 11'6".
This winter I have been training with the Utah Pole Vault Academy (UTPVA) and participating in regular lifting, sprinting, and bar drills with teammates and the high school coaching staff. My determination and dedication to training have helped me grow as an athlete and a person. Through pole vaulting, I have learned to work hard, balance my time, and be positive in everything I do- from long practices to cheering on my competitors even when I do not reach my goals.
I am excited to improve this spring as I continue to train with my coaches at Davis High. I am looking for a college that can help me continue to improve in the vault and provides a degree that will help me become a registered dietitian.
