2021-22 Highlights Personal Statement
As a student-athlete, I am looking for a school that can support me academically first. I strive to do well in all my classes before I focus in on anything else. I am looking for a team with girls and coaches who can hold each other accountable on and off the court. School-wise, I am looking for a smaller school that offers political science or pre-law. Academics are very important to me, and I will graduate from high school, and Hawkeye Community College with my Associates degree in 2025.
I began playing volleyball when I was 13 and in the seventh grade. I watched our middle school setter and immediately told my coach that was the position I wanted to be in, but in eighth grade I liberoed. Even when I was a libero, I would ask the high school coach to stay back after practice so I could work on my setting. After working with my middle school coach and my parents, my freshman year coach asked me if I wanted to set for the team. Ever since 2021, I have stuck with setting. Occasionally, I do libero for my team, but I much prefer setting. I believe being a versatile athlete is important.
