Serena Torres '18 Recruiting Profile

I would like to play indoor/ outdoor volleyball player. I love volleyball!!  I do not see a lot of minorities playing this sport in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Being a minority, I would like to show others, that this is a great sport to get involved in and guess what, it's OK to play it!!  I go to a school that doesn't offer any sports.  I played club ball with OK Edge from 12-15, played with OK Elite in the 16 division and this year with Kaizen 17s.  I have been an Outside Hitter all around since the age of 12 and played on the 1s team at 5'2, can you believe that!!.  My goal is to work very hard, be puntcual, a team player, and always be a better person and player then I was yesterday.  I am inspired now to be as good as the older girls that I see before me and hope that a coach can see my passion and devotion for the game.  I know that it is unusual to see someone playing as an OH at 5'2, but you will be surprise of what I can do on that front line.  Since the torch has been passed to me in the next generation within my family, I want to be the first to go to college and continue to bring our family up.
