I have been in love with the sport of volleyball since I began playing in sixth grade. The feeling of being on the court is one like no other - I get immense joy from being part of a team, and I really enjoy the challenge of pursuing every ball possible. As a libero, whether in a game or at a practice, I'm in a constant competition with myself to dig more balls and improve my serve-receive technique. I continue to take defense lessons each week.
Volleyball has also been the source of so many great friendships for me. When I moved from my lifelong home of Hawaii to the state of Oklahoma two years ago, I began practicing over the summer with the varsity team at my new school. It enabled me to quickly make friends, and when the first day of school rolled around, I didn't even really feel like the "new" girl, because I was already part of a team there. That kind of camaraderie is one of the reasons I look forward to playing volleyball in college.
I have a passion for volleyball, and it has been an integral part of my life for so long that I can't imagine not playing. I would love to find a college in which I can pursue both my academic goals and my sport!
