Personal Statement

I am a 4.0 student academically ranked #1 out of 387 students at Choctaw High School (6A). I play baseball and previously played football and wrestled up until last year. My family owns a tractor and trailer business and we live on a small farm where I spend my time when not playing ball. I am planning to attend college where I can pursue a degree in Engineering and have a lot of playing time on a strong competitive baseball team. My strongest tool is speed and am an aggressive base runner. I look forward to college life and playing ball at the collegiate level.

The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even setup utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Demonstrated a quiet, repeatable swing with advanced feel for his hands, peppering the middle of the field off the tee. Sink into the lower half coupled with hitting into a stiff front side allowed for barrel whip through the zone, evidenced by a strong 87 mph bat-exit velocity. Recorded a 6.71 60-yard dash. The primary outfielder showed solid footwork with easy, smooth movements while arriving to the ball on time consistently. A quick and low first step created noticeable range to both sides and a strong lower half generated momentum towards the target, notching an accurate 82 mph arm-strength from his position out of a high ¾ arm-slot with carry. The middle infielder displayed quick, fluid movements with advanced range to both sides. Easy transfers and athleticism allowed for plays to be made on the run with regularity. Flashed a 77 mph arm-strength across the diamond.

Foot speed is well above average as indicted by his 60 time of 7.01. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half efficiently. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range in the MIF. Throws are accurate across the diamond but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Jesse has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.
