I participated in gymnastics for seven years. Gymnastics influenced my life in so many ways and I don't regret my seven year commitment to the sport at all. Gymnastics taught me work ethic and commitment, as well as teamwork and the ability to adapt to new skills and people. So many skills have came out of the sport that I now get to use in my everyday life including track and, school. Gymnastics made me into the person I am today, always striving to get better at what I'm working at. Gymnastics is what got me interested in pole vault, being in gymnastics for seven years really helped me get a jump start on the sport. Throughout the past two track seasons I have learned even more about being on a team and working even harder for what you want. I have learned in order to be better than your competitors you must work harder, and want it more than them. That is the only way to be on top.
My goals for high school are to beat the school record of eleven feet nine inches in pole vault by my senior year, and hopefully achieve above that making the 12 foot mark. Academically I would like to raise my GPA as high as I can by the end of my senior year. Gymnastics and pole vault have taught me to be strong in all circumstances enabling me to over come many obstacles throughout my short lifetime. I have a very social personality and love being apart of a team with my peers, and am super excited to make new friends in college. I believe that my personality could make a great leader on a track team and I'm ready to be open to different colleges and possibilities right now and in the future.
