Olivia Deckers '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Olivia Deckers, and I am currently on Outside Hitter for the Advanced Math ad Science Academy Charter School.  As a freshman I started for my high school volleyball team as a Middle Blocker before transitioning to an Outside Hitter for my sophomore season. The summer leading into my junior year season, I was selected for the New England Region High Performance Team. I continued Outside Hitter for my junior year, becoming a captain and helping to lead my team to become 2018 Colonial Athletic League Champions. After my junior season I was named to Colonial Athletic League All-Star Team as well as the Massachusetts Division II All-State Team.  During my sophomore and junior years I have also competed for the Central Mass Juniors Volleyball Club top 15U and 16U teams. Going to large tournaments and traveling with my club team during my 15U season really fostered my love for volleyball and made me want to compete at the collegiate level. I pride myself on being an extremely tenacious worker both on and off the court, keeping my weighted GPA at a 4.52 and receiving a 35 on the ACT. I enjoy remaining a well-rounded student and athlete, and I participate in extracurricular activities such the Technovation App Development Challenge, the Junior Classical League, and the National Honor Society. My primary position is Outside Hitter, however, I also play Right Side. I am looking to play competitive volleyball in college while still maintaining strong academic rigor, and I plan to major in Global Public Health or Computational Biology.
