Personal Statement

Goals are a funny thing; they are ever changing and evolving. I always had a goal to push myself to learn academically and to grow as a wrestler. I have learned that though I have goals to always grow and do better than yesterday it is just as important to love and enjoy what you are doing and what you are learning. With that in mind, let me just say that I am not just passionate about furthering my education and growing as a female wrestler I love it. The learning, growing, drive, intensity as well as always lending a helping hand and supporting those around me. My future is aimed at becoming an Orthopedic PA while continuing one of my passions, wrestling. I have found that I am different than most of the other kids in my class when it comes to what I enjoy/hobbies. Some are similar like hiking, listening to music, swimming, a good Starbucks drink and spending time with family. What makes me different is my obsession with reading and wrestling. I always enjoy a good book at times, it is how I relax, clear my mind, and sometimes even get ready for an intense wrestling match. My favorite reading topic is Greek mythology and my favorite book outside of the Harry Potter series books is Percy Jackson. I also love to bake, my favorite thing to bake is pumpkin pie; around the holiday’s I have a list of people who put in requests for me to bake them my famous pumpkin pie for their holiday table. School is important to me, and I truly enjoy going and learning. Wrestling has become a huge part of my life. During school I practice an average of 3 hours a day, I also have a wrestling mat at home so in the off season I can continue to learn and grow as well as attend open mat and multiple wrestling camps. To me wrestling is just as much a team sport as it is an individual sport, yes, it is just you on the mat when it comes time to face your opponent but having good team members to practice with, encourage you, and cheer you on aid in your growth and success as a wrestler. Before a match I like to loosen up and really clear my mind, when my teammates are wrestling, I enjoy supporting them by offering words of encouragement and ensuring I am mat side cheering them on. Pushing myself and my teammates to be better and always having good motivation is important to me.
