I was always interested in art, science, and technology and was that nerdy kid that went to astronomy summer camps and photography classes but never knew how I would combine my interests into a career. After looking at a lot of out-of-state (and out of country) art schools, I decided that my interest in science may be stronger and attended the Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University. After a couple years majoring in Chemical Engineering, decided it was not for me and switched to Advertising to better fulfill my art interests and learn more about the digital realm.
Upon graduating MSU, I continued my education at the Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago, where I homed in my interests in website design, corporate branding, photography and other visual communication subjects. I started out working for a small business, creating all their branding, collateral designs, and marketing campaigns. From there I sought out to learn more and did a lot of contracting for large companies such as Discover Financial Services, Walgreens, Cars.com, and National Association of Realtors, learning web analytics, project management, social media coordination, business analysis, UI/UX, and business intelligence.
I was looking to work for a company that helps people, has strong values, and great people. When I saw the job post from NCSA, I instantly had a good feeling that I may have found my ‘forever home’. I am the Web Project Manager for the Marketing team and have never been happier to work for such a passionate company, and team, and feel like I am part of something greater.
